i want you to notice when i'm not around so effin special i wish i was special

yesterday while planning the grocery list for the abs diet take 2 (last one went well, but it needed a few tweaks to be more appropriate for me), i noticed that i had a lot of spices in the little plastic bags that you get in the "ethnic" foods aisle. i was looking to see if i had any ginger and couldn't reach all the bags because they had been pushed back to far. so i complained to lincoln that i wanted a spice rack. then i noticed in the mail that a $5 off coupon had arrived from bed bath and beyond and i could use that towards a spice rack. as i was flipping through the ads, i saw a great comforter. i hate the one we have now. it was a cheap one from linens n things that came with 2 sheet sets and all that jazz. now it is all nubby and irritates the beep out of me. linc and i discussed it and we were going to go "price" things (which means i will get my way and get it). since i got that pay raise and we just got our insanely large tax refund, we decided to also "price" higher thread count sheets.

needless to say, we have a new spice rack, comforter, 400 thread count sheets, bed skirt, and pillow shams. and a fancy chopper thingy. love it. we didn't get the exact comforter i wanted but we got one that is made out of the same material as board shorts. which is the best material in existence. soooo soft. and great colors, several shades of blue. i love blue. and the spice rack came with spices, which was weird to me, but an added bonus (although i bet they jacked up the price to include those spices).

all because of a spice rack. :)

in other news, took ru to the vet on saturday for his meet and greet with dr. brady and his annual vaccinations that he hasn't has since he was 6 weeks old. mom never took cj and blacky to the vet and they lived to be 20+ years old.

as soon as i put ru in his carrier and opened the apartment door, he panicked and started crying. the whole car ride there he cried and put his little paw through the metal door and would either hit me or try to unlock it.

then at the vet's he didn't want to come out at first. but the vet was so nice, he warmed right up to her. he got his shots. 3 of them, one on each thigh and one between the shoulder blades. i think it upset me more than dizzle. brave kitty. he weighed in at a healthy 13.7 lbs. and she said that he is a beautiful cat, not quite a long haired but not a short haired. his name at the shelter i got him from was fuzzy, because he had both long hair and short hair. so cute.

after we got home, he was pretty mad at me. he wouldn't eat and he didn't want to sleep by me. but by sunday he was back to his normal self.

he goes in for the declawing tomorrow morning. i spent quite a bit of time at the old vet's trying to get his bloodwork. they told me in january that it was normal, so i didn't want to put him through that again. but when i called them today, the guy that answered made it sound like it wasn't normal so i went there for a copy and for a copy to be sent to the new vet's. while there i got to see so many puppies. i saw a great dane that i swear was as tall as a horse. beautiful. there was a weiner dog, who was so scared, he peed himself. twice. and a couple boxer puppies. and a huge happy dog named abby that had a hurt paw. and a chocolate lab with a growth on his side.

after the bloodwork was faxed, the new vet called and said it was ok and they would see the kitty tomorrow. i was looking over the old vet's notes and i am glad found another one. thank you brian and judy. it said in the notes that they discussed certain things with me and that i declined. which was not true. sneaky corporate vet.

happy thoughts for the baby ru. makes me sad to think what is gonna happen to him tomorrow. if there was another way, i'd totally be for it. but the vet said she went through the same thing and 2 of her 4 cats are declawed. it's not just because of what he did to the furniture, but when he feels scared or cornered by the nieces and nephews, he tends to swipe at them with his claws out. and once we have kids, that could be a problem. poor baby ru.
