i had to grow the hair out for a few weeks then went to this cute place called karma salon in gilbert on saturday where i had a fabulous lady name thuy (pronounced twee) rip the hair off. i dragged lincoln along for moral support and hand holding. but it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it might be.
for the last couple weeks i was also trying to cram in some serious gym time since i am going to be quite inactive for awhile. long leg hair and the gym do not mix...
next stop saturday was to DSW. the original intent was to replace a very expensive pair of fabulous heels that i somehow managed to get one ran over... long story, maybe some other day :)
at norstrom's there used to be this pair of steve madden wedges that i shoe-stalked for a few months. but the cheapest they ever got down to was barely under $100 (which i have yet to spend on a pair of shoes, a girl has to have her limits). but at DSW they had this adorable pair of steve madden heels with the same pattern (just less of it) on clearance for $20. and even though they were not on my list and i can't wear heels for a few weeks, i had to get them.
here they are: they have this cute pattern of flowers and bumblebees. sorta reminds me of a porcelain easter egg.
then yesterday morning was the surgery. i wasn't able to eat or drink anything after midnight, which was awful. i was so dehydrated by the time they had to put the i.v. in which made it really unpleasant. this was my first surgery ever (apparently getting your wisdom teeth out, no matter how traumatizing that is, doesn't count). i wasn't able to watch the nurse margo put in the i.v. but happened to glance over while she attached the tube and blood gushed out all over my hand and gown, which was the part i was trying to avoid seeing. then i had to write on my leg so the dr. wouldn't goof and cut into the wrong, scary thought. he autographed it then drew some incision lines. the circle at the top is where my bone is. the line below it is where he was cutting in to relieve nerve pressure. the line near the ankle is another nerve spot. then there are some dotted lines where he is going under the skin to do a superficial fascia slicing (cutting the calf muscle casing to give it room to swell).
here i am all set up at home. the dogs were super concerned and had to make sure i was ok and showered me with kisses and cuddles. which was fine until trying to sleep last night when pico decided to wedge himself between me and the couch. then he proceeded to stiff arm me until i almost fell. all while myla thought that the pillows keeping my leg elevated were for her to nap on.
sweet myla. like a little baby. yes our dogs are wearing shirts. keeps the dog hair under control. plus they are halloween shirts, which i couldn't resist at target.
this is today. trying to get some work done so i am not incredibly behind when i go back next monday. got me a nice little setup.
i get the bandages off thursday. i'll post some pictures of the damage. i'm counting on a lovely bruise and some frankenstein-like stitches.
see ya then!

I didn't know you were getting the surgery. I thought that the PT was done to avoid it. I hope your recovery goes quickly.
thanks for keeping us updated! your toes look cute in that last picture all fanned out.
