lincoln and i have never really gone all wild about valentine's day. to us, it's just another day.
i first met lincoln the weekend before valentine's in 1997. we had lived down the street from each other for years (him on 10th, me on 9th), but since we went to different schools, he was just one of the many kids that lived in that corner house at the circle (what we called 10th st) who had the big blue van. we used to try to guess how many kids actually lived there.
the reason i remember what weekend it was in '97 was because he was going to start "dating" my friend (which consisted of talking on the phone every day) but wanted to wait until after the jr. high valentine's dance the following weekend. he had already promised to escort his ex-"girlfriend".
we were dating in high school each year v-day came around. sometimes i would get a little sad when girls would be called down to the office in between each period to get the flowers that were delivered and my name was never called. but my birthday is less than 2 weeks after and lincoln always did good that day.
one year, he gave me a little plastic m&m heart filled with candies. i thought it was so sweet since i had always liked the m&m characters. i think i was showing it off in one of my classes when talmage (linc's younger brother) burst my bubble and said they had received those from their mom and linc just re-gifted his. don't worry, he confessed this to his mom just this past weekend.
we celebrated this year by having a nice little date last night. it consisted of making our own dinners (i think he had a cheese crisp while i made some pancakes) after watching a whole season of meerkat manor. then we cleaned out the fridge and made a shopping list. we bundled up the child, headed to safeway, and spent almost an hour going down each aisle of the store. we rented a $1 dvd, played a $1 scratcher, went home and watched the movie while eating cookies we got with a coupon while our little gemmy bean slept on my chest.
i think it was our best one yet.

You guys are all toilet romantic.
No matter what you did at least you were together and you enjoyed it!! I'm sure you will remember it! Dusty and I never celebrated V-day since our anniversary was a few days after. This was the first year we did and for obvious reasons. I don't know if we'll celebrate it again, but I'll remember it!
