so i am 16 weeks (and a day). everything is looking good. at first i hadn't put any weight on with this pregnancy (i'm still carrying some from the last) but perhaps the 15 weeks of morning sickness had something to do with that. i'm finally feeling better and just like last time, the weight is creeping up on me. i think i gained almost 3lbs just this week!
i will have my ultrasound around 19 weeks or so. we aren't going to find out what we are having. it was fun with gemma and for some reason, it gets people all worked up. which lincoln loves to do. ha, i kid. and just like last time, we are having a hard time with names. we can't seem to agree on anything. and no, we aren't sharing.
last week i had my monthly ob checkup and everything was good. baby was really wild. kicking and punching while the doc was listening to the heartbeat. she insists you can't tell what you are having by their heart rate, but my mom (and the delivery nurse from banner gateway) insist otherwise. i point that out to my doc and she says "my mom says the same thing. but trust me, i went to med school."
the day after my appointment, well i guess i should say that same night, i woke up to pee (which i do quite frequently these days) and even in the dark i knew something was wrong. bright red. all throughout the morning. i wasn't terribly worried. i let them know at the doc's office but since i wasn't in any pain, they told me to take it easy and go to the er if things get worse. otherwise they would see me the following day. i've had this before. it usually passes in 24 hours. so i peed in a specimen cup we had at home (don't ask) just so i could prove to them what it looked like. i knew i would flush it all out by the time i saw them.
which i did. i drank probably over 100 ounces of water.
i most likely had a kidney stone. just like last time. fortunately i didn' t have to go to the er this time. there was a moment when i was close but i stayed on the couch as much as possible and gemma and i watched a lot of buffy the vampire slayer.
my urine was clear the next day but i did have a uti. for some reason all last pregnancy and since i delivered i am cursed with uti. i'll probably be on antibiotics for this whole pregnancy as well.
update on pico. he is getting 2 insulin shots a day. it is hard and frustrating and he yelps and growls and is just all in all unpleasant about it. but he is doing better. he seems to have a little bit more energy. he has only had 1 accident in the last several days and it was overnight so not too bad. he is a lot skinnier than he used to. hopefully he will keep the weight off which will be good on his joints. i take him in thursday for another glucose check. hopefully they won't have to up his dose again.
and lastly, sweet gemma. she is just getting so big and so sweet. 95% of the time she is just a blast. the past 2 days she has been throwing tantrums and climbing on the table and the island and pulling books down and throwing food. which is frustrating. linc was "at wits end" with her yesterday. he was really hoping for a lazy sunday but it didn't quite work that way.
here she is enjoying her chicken and mashed potatoes. we gave her peas which she absolutely hated (just like her mommy) and would spit them out even when we hid them in the potatoes.

She takes after her mommy AND her Grandma in hating peas. Smart child. Great pic of you and Gemma. Let me know if you need help with anything.
Poor melanie, kidney stones and being pregnant.
