20 weeks

sunday i hit 20 weeks. it was also my 28th birthday. we celebrated with my family at bj's restauarant. everyone made it except for my super busy, super important college brother benino (i kid, i know your car-less). it was a lot of fun.

i'm still having kidney issues and will be on antibiotics for the remainder of the pregnancy. just like last time. my glucose level was high in a urine test so i had to do the glucose tolerance blood test a few weeks early. doc thinks the high glucose might be causing the kidney problems. we'll see.

doc's pleased with my weight gain. i've put on about 9lbs. i'm pretty sure i had put on way more by this time with gem. gemma is a great motivator to eat better and to keep moving.

i can feel sweet baby h2 moving all the time now. very active. baby's always kicking the doc when she tries to get the heart rate. whenever i hold gem before bed, i can the baby pushing on her. hopefully linc will get to feel the kicks soon.

we had the ultrasound wednesday. baby looks good. measuring right at the average. gem always measured 1-2 weeks bigger so hopefully this baby won't be another 9 pounder.

we had planned to keep it a surprise but sweet baby h2 was not shy in the least. it was completely obvious what we are having. the ultrasound tech was real nice and pointed out everything, like the kidneys, liver and the stomach, and there it was!

that's right! we're having a...

the tech said they call it a turtle head, so baby h has now been nicknamed yertle the turtle (from dr. seuss and a childhood pet of mine)

This is so awesome! Congrats! Gemmy Beans gets to experience the joys of being the big sister terrorizing the little brother. Kinda like our childhood!

benny - i think baby boy hansen will be the one doing the terrorizing. at least, that's how i remember our childhood... gemma will be the sweet sister singing pocahontas (or perhaps tangled) while swinging her little brother around the living room, purely for his enjoyment only.
