meetup.com

after some debate and delving out of my comfort zone, i joined a mom's group. i've been taking gem to the library storytime but 30 minutes one day a week wasn't cutting it.

my sister in law's sister is also a stay at home mom with 2 young kids (11 months apart, oops) who used to work 60+ hours a week. she mentioned a website called meetup.com.

you want a group for clown worshipping females in the age group between 26-32, i'm sure it's on there. it seems to have everything.
so i found one for chandler/gilbert moms. although i technically live in qc, i'm much closer to gilbert than any of the qc activities.

the website is pretty cool. similar to a facebook account, you put up a profile of yourself and pictures if you want. there is a calendar and anyone can suggest "meetups".

gem and i went to our first one to a place called jumpstreet. it's basically a room full of trampolines. of the 50+ moms in the group, 8 signed up for this particular event. they all were very nice and gem really enjoyed the kids and the place. it was a successful first outing.

there are several other expecting moms so the group is making a schedule to help out with meals once the moms deliver. also, outings for the older siblings in case moms can't make it.
i was really worried that i would have nothing in common with these other women. that they would be that stereotypical mom that somehow manages to have a tiny figure, perfect hair and makeup, perfect children, fancy equipment, and fancy food.

but they all seemed down to earth. i've signed up for 6 more for march.
