couple of things i felt compelled to write about after reading kayla's blog -
first off, my apartment remains a mess until saturday morning. in a way it does reflect the chaos of my life, rather how lazy i can be. my priorities are just different during the week. saturday morning i know i am going to have to sit and put in a good few hours of homework and i can't concentrate knowing that my laundry hasn't been started, that the dishes in the sink are starting to stick together, and that ru's poopoo box is unbearably foul. i give linc a few simple chores like taking out the garbage and vaccuuming (i can never spell that word). i tried to get him to clean the bathroom, especially since the only reason the toilet is dirty is because of him, but he always seems to forget something, like wiping down the sink. we are working college students. it is ok to have a messy apartment.
second, about having guy friends. i have learned through the years that do unto others as you would have them do unto you. meaning - i wouldn't want linc hanging out with some chick! so i better not be hanging out with any dudes. plain and simple. i had a buddy from my stat class a couple of semesters ago who lived on campus, and would invite me to hang out with him while i was waiting for my night class. didn't think anything of it. but after linc expressed his concern, i felt bad, and kept my interactions with this guy to purely education related. would invite him to the bar if it was a group gathering. i think that is still kosher. but maybe it is a security thing. and it depends on the guys, the friend and the boyfriend/husband.
third, i think every relationship has their moments. yesterday i was being a brat about going to circle k to buy powerball tickets for linc. just because i could. i was tired, had a long day, and really did not feel like going through the hassle. it is normal to pick fights. i try so hard to just hold back the snarky remark i was going to blurt out when i am upset, take a breather, and then tell lincoln what was bothering me. sometimes it may be hours/days later, all depends on when i feel comfortable bringing it up again. i couldn't imagine any relationship that doesn't have its share of issues. if everything was all perfect all the time, it would be like dating yourself. how boring. or one side of the relationship is catering to the other and that doesn't seem like real true love.
fourth, i have been craving a good chick flick.
