what a weekend...
after yesterday's post, linc and i took care of business. we donated some clothes to DI, got groceries, went to the mall (where we ran into b&j) and i got a new pair of steve madden shoes and some books to read (pride and prejudice, emma, and a tale of two cities). then we went to game stop by the apartment and linc got his halo graphic novel (everywhere else was sold out). came home and got ready for our fancy dinner out.
the restaurant was perfect. very romantic. and since i had told them what we were celebrating when i made the reservations, they had decorated our table and even gave us a card. we ordered a bottle of champagne - the best i've ever had! the food was sooo good. the steak just melted in your mouth. and it was some of the biggest pieces of meat i've ever seen. we even had fried calamari (my pick, trying to be adventurous). it was excellent. then after we finished our bottle and food, the brought us a complimentary giant piece of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse icing and hazelnuts. so friggin good.
it really turned out to be quite a great evening. i wasn't too sure about the restaurant. it looked good based on the internet site and ratings i came across in my research. but linc and i tend to stay with restaurants we know and we never really venture to that area of town (the biltmore). but it was perfect.
and i swear that sean mclaughlin, the old weatherman from channel 12, was sitting at the table next to us. he even was "table snooping" about our champagne selection and complimented it. he was sitting with a bunch of guys that worked with the diamondbacks, based on our own "table snooping." their conversation was kinda funny. they were talking about receiving drunk text messages, instead of drunk calls, from girls for booty calls. good ol' technology.
then today we woke up at a decent hour, finished some chores, then ventured out to the model homes. the flooring is finished and the backyards are landscaped. we did a side by side comparison of the two houses we are contemplating. by getting the bigger house we will be cutting into the already dinky back yard, but our lot that we have our name on is 5ft wider than the others. which really doesn't mean a whole lot but every bit helps. but i really think the bigger house just seems like a better deal.
when we were thinking of getting the smaller house, we had a list of "must have upgrades" and "only if affordable upgrades." if we get the larger house for the same price (actually i think it was $1k cheaper, but w/o the 4th bedroom) we have more money to play with for upgrades. it was interesting at the models today because one of the sales ladies was actually out there and she could answer our questions right away.
my head is just swimming with all the possibilities. maybe buying a pre-owned home would be easier, someone already made the choices. but then again, when we move in, that house will be ours. completely and totally ours.
we even wandered home depot to look at prices of countertops, tile, carpet, doors and fans. we looked at paint samples and bbq's. so many things to look at.
well, i am going to start dinner. we bought the makings for a huge breakfast for dinner, pancakes, sausage, hashbrowns, eggs and OJ. yummy...
love.
