i love the song that my title came from today. its from kate havnevik called grace. my sweet song of late. for those grey's anatomy fans it was from the season finale when meredith and mcdreamy are getting friendly in the hospital room and she loses her panties. :)
this lack of bloggage by all parties makes me sad. but i am just as guilty. i can actually say i have been busy. as i'm sure you all have been too. busy with work, house stuff, halloween and hansen family functions...
work:
mostly the same stuff. but my boss nancy finally brought her adopted russian baby home last week. beatiful little girl. and my assistant boss had her baby boy a few days early over the weekend. and we lost yet another male coworker (3rd one). something about that job and that cubicle. seriously, the third guy this year. another guy is up for the job. we'll see what happens.
house stuff:
we finalized the structural options on saturday and put another portion of the deposit down. they extended our deadline for the remainder of the deposit by a couple of weeks, which is whoo-hoo for us money-wise, so we could get into the actual design center that was built, instead of driving all over town to several different companies each responsible for a different part of the house. we have our interior options appointment scheduled for saturday nov 11th and i couldn't be more excited. although it will be hard deciding what we want in one afternoon. they are supposed to put it online to make it easier. fingers crossed.
we have ran into a speed bump with the mortgage company. first off, the lady said she would send us the paperwork on a certain day but after almost 2 weeks went by and no information, i called her and it was still on her desk. she said it would be out by the end of the next day. well another week went by and i know the postal service can be a bit slow but not that slow. it turns out she had our old address and sent the info to the chandler house. luckily tom-dawg still lives there so we were able to get that all taken care. so know i just gotta get that all together and out in the mail.
halloween:
well, as i mentioned in a previous post, linc decided on a costume. no shaking him when he gets his mind made up. i thought he was keeping it secret but he's told just about everyone we know anyway. he is going to be the burger king from the bk commercials. we ordered a mask from ebay (whole 'nother story that i do not wanna get into) which should get her by next week. linc has a very specific costume in mind, white tights and all, and after visiting several costume shops, rentals and retail, we find one that is fabulous. it will be hilarious.
as for me, well what goes with the burger king? the dairy queen of course. now since they have yet to come out with an actual character (that i have noticed) on their commercials representing the dairy queen, i've taken creative liberties and came up with a winner. :) i'm going more for the "beauty queen" look. and as i type i am wearing my fabulous diamond drop tiara that i ordered off the internet last week and just arrived this evening. i've hired an excellent seamstress (mother) to make some of the costume. i've got a new top and some amazing shoes. i even got some cool fake eyelashes to complete the ensemble.
let me just say that i hope taylor and erin's party is great because halloween wasn't cheap this year. i'm sure it will be awesome, especially if linc's buddy gay steve shows up in the costume he is planning (which i won't spoil here)!
hansen family functions:
we met up with talmage and his girlfriend for applebee's happy hour friday. yummy fried and fattening food that made a couple of us pretty sick. not lincoln of course. perfect immune system.
crystal, the gf, was very sweet and comes from a family as large as the hansen's (almost larger, her mom is having #9 in january!) so she seems like a good fit. judging by talmage's eye twinkle, i give him 6 months till he's got himself a missus.
we had fhe at a park by jana's house. it was fun. nothing terrible interesting to report. pretty standard fhe activities.
after that we went out for sushi with taylor and erin to RA. i guess there was something going on called octoberfest (sp?) down the street that made mill a bit of a mad house. and even though we were sitting at the sushi bar, i was not overwhelmed by the smell. which, on one hand, was great, but on the other, i think my sense of smell has eased up. i miss being annoyed by all the super sweet and fruity smells that bombard you at the mall as you pass bath and body works or the nasty smell of onions or old cheese. yeah, i would rather have an oversensitive noise than a non-working one.
after sushi, we went to the harkins down on 7th to see the employee of the month. it was ok. yeah, just ok. i mean, i laughed. but i've seen better. and i used to think dane cook was cute but he has this droopy eye that is too distracting like owen wilson's nose.
other stuff:
for the last half hour or so token and rufus have been fighting over who gets to sit in the ups box my tiara arrived in. first token was in it (and he fits in it better) but he got out to smell the corner and right then big ol' fat rufus jumped in and squeezed himself in. i think he may actually be stuck. token was hitting him on the head, trying to bite his ears, scratching at the box, trying to get him out so token could have it back, but rufus hasn't moved. token has now given up and is laying on the ground next to the box with one paw touching it as if to say, hah rufus! i don't give up that easy!
