sunday we had my family over for dinner. my little brother benny was returning from his china trip and wanted the family to meet up for dinner. we have learned from past experiences that a restaurant is not the most appropriate venue for welcome-home-conversations. so everyone brought some food over to our house, we played in my costume box, watched some funny videos, and just enjoyed each other's company. it was quite pleasant.
this week at work was a bad one. due to the current economic status, my employers did a "reduction in workforce" and let 60 people go. 7 from the building i work in. 2 that sat right next to me. my department was not affected because we are so small and overworked as it is.
last night, lincoln and i, along with brian and judy, ventured out to tempe to celebrate halloween. we wanted to take advantage of it being on a friday. and since we had no house parties to go to this year, we wanted to see what tempe to offer.
we just scrounged up costumes we had (or borrowed from others or purchased for work, but didn't end up using) and headed out. first stop was tempe marketplace. they were having a free concert. it was ok. costumes weren't that exciting. vibe was kinda lame. so we headed down to mill ave. it was packed. and the costumes were a lot better. and a lot more festive. we wandered down the street, stopped for a bite, then stood atop a concrete planter box and just crowd watched (which is one of my favorite things to do).
tonight we head to four peaks to partake in the seasonal pumpkin porter.
