joys of motherhood

when i was discharged from the hospital after having Gemma i noticed on my discharge papers it said i am not allowed to drive for 6 weeks. i thought that it must have been a mistake, since i'm not on any medication and i didn't have surgery or anything. but several moms have told me that is pretty standard. well that's just silly i thought.

i kinda get it now. i think that the lack of sleep alone is reason enough to keep me from getting behind the wheel. plus, if the baby were to cry all alone in the backseat, i might just have a panic attack (veteran moms - feel free to laugh).

we've hit a few milestones with the baby. she had her first projectile vomit on christmas day, right on little brother benny. it was pretty funny (after the fact). she slept almost 4 hours straight the other night. i didn't. i kept checking to make sure she was still breathing. and she passed her birth weight ahead of schedule. as of 8 days ago she weighed 9lbs 13oz (she had until 12/30). i'll weigh her tomorrow at her 3 weeks.

oh, and lincoln went to the grocery store. without me. at 10:30pm after he got off work. and he didn't call me with a million questions. and he got everything he should have. it was fabulous.

fun side note - looked at our baby pictures to see who gemma resembles more. she has my head shape, hairline, chin, and nose. lincoln's hair color, upper lip, brow, and eyes.

She's so precious. She resembles Grandpa Navarro quite a bit too.

I like your part of which features she got from who. She is pretty sweet.

She is so beautiful! I can't get over how beautiful she is. I am happy for you guys! And don't worry, I still hate it when my babies cry in the back seat and I have three. Congratulations.

I am just barely getting on blogspot and catching up reading! She didn't look like a typical newborn at birth. Maybe it was because she was over 9 lbs, but she is so darn cute!!!! I was trying to determine who she looked like and now that you wrote the resemblances, I can see that she must be a good mix of you and Lincoln!
