The other day while perusing my beloved instant queue on Netflix, I came upon their workout section. I added a bunch of them to my list, thinking how convenient and fun.
Boo! I was a fool.
Sure they are convenient. But Gem isn’t about to let me have a solid 30-45 minutes of free time so I have to wait until after she goes to bed. By then I am so tired.
And as far as the “fun” factor goes… I was thinking, yeah I’ll try one of these dance workouts. All the covers have some way too happy tiny waisted girl promising me that I will not only have a blast but I will burn soo many calories! I tried one of the 10 minute ones. I had hoped it would have some fun music that might entertain Gemma (she likes to hold onto the tv stand and shake her butt up and down) but sadly, all it had was a beat. I felt like such a dork prancing around my living room, very ungracefully trying some hip hop moves. I tried a salsa one next. I think I lasted 2 minutes before I wanted to strangle the instructor who was a Shakira wannabe with an annoying voice and the high half ponytail. And the guy with the dreads on the steel drums was just as bad.
In the end I went back to a tried and true workout – kickboxing. I may not have rhythm and by no means will my punch hurt anybody, but at least I can feel the burn. My abs were actually sore for 3 days after all this shenanigans.
I also tried another 10 Minute Solutions Total Toning. It was pretty good. You can target specific areas to focus your 10 minutes on. Also, the Shape workouts – Bikini Body or something like that, those are always good for total body workouts. Very female specific. I get sick of hearing the word “buns”…
Lincoln asked me last night if we could work out together as long as the video had a guy in it, you know, meaning, “harder workout”, not that Lincoln wants to look at a guy working out. Sheesh.
*By the way – Lincoln is absolutely annoyed when people say “Gotta get a workout in”. Why can’t they just say – they want to work out today, or they did work out today? Why do they always “gotta get it in”? The things that annoy him crack me up. Like when I say sure instead of yes. He hates that!
