i love technology

even though i kept telling myself, and others, that i didn't really need a smart phone, i gave in a couple months ago (trying to avoid the crazy data plan fees verizon was about to rollout). now i use this phone for everything - shopping (amazon.com app), bottle feedings (breast feeding tabulator app), playdates (meetup.com app), entertainment (fb, wiki, netflix, imdb, toddler lock for gemma), etc.

i was worried calder was having some food allergies. he seemed to spit up more than gemma. so i decided to keep a food diary. found a nice app on my phone called myfitnesspal. not only is it great for just tracking food, but you can use it to watch calories and fat and stuff.

bonus! i've lost 5lbs in one week.

now, i was worried that by trying to watch my calories i might hinder my milk supply. for someone my size, in order to lose 1-2lbs a week, i should only eat about 1200 calories. that ain't nothing. so i added the 500 required for milk production. i tried this for a few days but found my energy level to really be lacking. so i added an additional 300. so i basically am eating around 2000 calories a day. and losing almost a pound a day. with no extra exercise besides being a stay at home mom/housekeeper.

i even allowed myself a cheat day. i love food. i love to eat. i love to go to restaurants. and i love sweets. but i cut out soda and most chocolate for calder's sake. but last saturday i went to a birthday party. i stayed away from the appetizers (except for the veggie tray) but i did eat a cupcake and it was good. then lincoln and i had mexican food for dinner. plus a treat afterwards while we watched a movie.

once i start a real workout routine (i haven't quite figured out when i will have the time - i'm typing this while gemma is napping but of course, calder is wide awake and needy), i'm sure i will have to make some adjustments. i have both p90x and insanity dvds but i think i need to ease myself into it gently.

but i am definitely inspired.
