10 year high school reunion

see pictures here

this past weekend was mine and linc's ten year globe high school reunion. it was held at the cobre valley country club and was a lot of fun.

normally classes like to hold their reunions around homecoming. but too many other classes were so ours was going to be a few weeks after. the plan was for a formal dinner at a place called the dream manor. price was going to be $60 a person.

one thing i've learned about my class - we are lazy and cheap. only 6 tickets were sold by the deadline. we all were procrastinating. so it was cancelled.

another person rallied the troops and really put a lot of effort into organizing a cheaper, less formal shindig. facebook was key. she asked for a lot of input. a week before the reunion she had over 100 rsvps!

for whatever reason i was really worked up about the reunion. who would be there, what to wear, awkward conversations.

i went shopping with my sister in law and we picked out some great dresses with leggings and i got these awesome shoes. but when i showed the dresses to lincoln, he politely crinkled his nose. i took the dresses back and picked out 2 different ones.

i practiced walking in my new shoes while doing laundry. it has been forever since i've worn heels.

a few days before the reunion i was talking to one of my friends/fellow graduates. she said they were all planning on wearing jeans! so i took the dresses back and found something more casual.

packing for a one night stay for two babies, two dogs, and two adults is no fun. the minivan definitely came in handy.

a tour of the high school was planned for saturday afternoon. lincoln and i stopped at leonard paul's for a slice of pizza. then to the high school we went. only 3 other classmates came. but we had a good time. the high school is a lot different. lots of orange paint.

we met up with a group of my friends for dinner at the copper bistro. it was great. lots of chuckling.

then down to the country club we went. didn't want to be the first ones there so arrived 15-20 mins late. it already had a good crowd. after maybe an hour or so of awkward conversation and way too many hugs, it turned into a good time. we stayed till it ended, helped clean up, then headed down to a local watering hole, the drift inn. i've never been, probably won't ever go back (maybe in another 10 years). but it was a lot of fun. after it closed, we headed over to Jerry's for a bite with one of my friends that married a fellow ups driver.

didn't make it home until close to 4am.

both lincoln and i were surprised it turned out as well as it did. not everyone showed up that said they would. but that didn't matter.

and most of the girls wore jeans. a few sweaters and leggings like myself. i got a lot of backhanded compliments - oh you look soo good...for just having a baby. one old friend said having babies suits me. i was too skinny in high school, now i am latina volumptous.

lots of promises to keep in touch and to get together more often. hopefully not all empty. i'm looking forward to my 20 year.
